PRIVACY — YOUR DATA, YOUR CHOICE
Privacy & cookies.
Tokyo Grain is an independent digital photography brand based in Tokyo, Japan. This notice explains what happens when you visit tokyograin.com.
Optional website analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use this website and which photography guides are useful. The information may include pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, referring source, clicks, scrolling, and interaction timing.
With your permission, Microsoft Clarity helps us understand clicks, scrolling, and website interaction through heatmaps and privacy-masked session replays. These replays reconstruct website interactions; they are not camera or microphone recordings. We use them to improve photography guides and navigation, not to record Gumroad checkout or payment details.
Clarity uses masking for sensitive content, and we explicitly mask forms on this website. Masking is not a guarantee that every possible personal detail is removed. Please do not enter sensitive information into this website or its URLs.
Optional analytics does not load until you select Accept analytics. Advertising storage is configured as denied. You can read our guides and get the free preset without accepting. Change or withdraw your choice anytime in Cookie settings.
Cookies and local storage
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set identifiers such as _ga, and Clarity may set _clck and _clsk. These services may also use their own cookies under their policies. Identifiers help distinguish visits and connect page interactions into a session.
We store your analytics choice under tokyograin-consent-v2-ga-clarity. An earlier rejection under tokyograin-consent-v1 remains respected. An earlier GA-only acceptance does not enable Clarity; we ask you to choose again. Optional analytics does not start if your choice cannot be saved.
If you withdraw acceptance, we stop optional analytics and remove the first-party analytics cookies available to this site. When the rejection can be saved, the page reloads without optional analytics. If it cannot be saved, the current page remains opted out, but your choice may not be remembered on another visit.
Retention and service providers
Google processes analytics data under its own terms and privacy notice. Retention depends on the type of data and the applicable Google Analytics settings.
Microsoft processes Clarity data under its own terms and privacy statement. Clarity retention varies by data type and project settings; recordings or heatmaps may persist after you withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops future optional collection on this website, not deletion of data already processed.
Downloads and purchases on Gumroad
Free downloads and purchases are completed on Gumroad, a separate service. When you follow a Gumroad link, Gumroad processes the information you submit, including email and payment information, under its own policies. Tokyo Grain does not receive your full payment-card details.
Children and changes to this notice
This site is intended for a general photography audience and is not directed to children under 18. We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change. The latest revision date appears below.
